Description: white powder

Pharmacodynamics: Spectinomycin is an aminoglycoside bactericide and has a medium inhibition ability to many Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, and Proteus. Spectinomycin is sensitive to Streptococcus, micrococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and some Mycoplasma (M.gallisepticum, M. meleagridis, M. hyosynoviae). Spectinomycin is not sensitive to Streptococcus viridans and Staphylococcus aureus. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and treponema usually have resistance. Intestinal bacteria have a better resistance to spectinomycin than other bacteria but has no cross tolerance with streptomycin. Lincomycin is effective against anaerobic bacteria such as Fusobacterium, Peptococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Clostridium tetani, and most Actinomycetes. The mechanism of lincomycin is through binding with bacterial 50s ribosomal subunit and inhibit protein synthesis.

Pharmacokinetics: The absorption of spectinomycin is only 7% but still remains a higher concentration in the gastrointestinal tract. The medical concentration is lower in tissue than in serum meaning spectinomycin is not permeable through the cerebrospinal fluid or eyes and low affinity with plasma cells. The drug is mostly discharged through glomerular in kidney. Lincomycin has a poor absorption in 30~40% of total dosage. Extra feed can reduce the absorption rate and amount. The drug with 50mg/kg dosage is given to poultry orally for 7 days. During the trial period, lincomycin’s concentration is up to 0.14μg/ml on the other hand the after the 7-day trial period, the concentration is 0.1μg/ml.

Indications: antibiotics.in treatment for Gram negative and positive bacteria and Mycoplasma.

Administration and Dosage: oral use. Poultry: 0.5~0.8g/L for 3~5 days.

Contraindications: no discomfort has seen with suggested dosage.

Precaution: use for 5~7-days-old chicken
